Dehang Grand Canyon rated top scenic spot

The scenic area of Dehang Grand Canyon is located in Jishou city, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture of western Hunan province. It is located in the middle of Wuling Grand Canyon formed by the intersection of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Wuling Mountains, with a protected area of 108 square kilometers. 

Wuling Grand Canyon runs about 150 kilometers long, 1.5 to 3.5 kilometers wide, with an altitude of 680 to 900 meters and a vertical height of 400 to 600 meters. The average temperature is between 16° and 18°, with abundant animal and plant resources.

On June 9, 2021, Aizhai-Shibadong-Dehang Canyon Scenic Area in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture of Hunan province was added to the national 5A category, the highest rating for Chinese scenic spots.    
Dehang Canyon

Dehang Canyon is a typical karst gorge landform in China, including Yuquanxi Grand Canyon, Hangxiaxi Grand Canyon and Jiulongxi Grand Canyon.

There is a wonderful "Wentiantai" hanging in Yuquanmen Grand Canyon, and the story of Qu Yuan’s (the Chu Kingdom minister and poet) Tian Wen (Heavenly Questions) originated here.

There is an ancient and primitive Pangu Peak with an altitude of more than 700 meters, surrounded by precipices.

There is a Liusha Waterfall, the highest drop waterfall in China. It is one of the top 10 favorite waterfalls of Chinese tourists.
 
Aizhai Highway Wonders

Aizhai Highway Wonders is on the Xiangxi section of the China National Highway 319 (Hunan-Sichuan Highway), which was built during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), mainly for the convenience of withdrawing and transporting military materials and troops. The highway was completed in 1936.

It is about 6 km long, built on the same slope with a horizontal distance of less than 100m, a vertical height difference of 440m, and a slope of 70-90 degrees. This kind of terrain causes the highway to turn 13 sharp turns, forming 26 sections. 

Figuratively speaking, the appearance of this section of highway is like a long folded belt, a compressed spring and a steep multi-step ladder. On such a "highway", there is a group of "the best traffic policemen". The "duty desk" built by them with wooden boards and sticks is called "the most attractive traffic police booth".  

Hunan Aizhai Extra Large Suspension Bridge

In 2010, the world's first suspension bridge began construction. By the end of March 2012, the Hunan Aizhai Extra Large Suspension Bridge was officially opened to traffic. 

The suspension bridge, which spans Dehang Canyon with a drop of 400 meters and a main span of 1,176 meters, ranks first among similar bridges in the world. The completion of the bridge greatly solved the traffic jam on Aizhai Highway. And when the car runs on the suspension bridge, the feeling is absolutely thrilling. When walking on the cable bridge, it feels like "walking in the clouds".
Dehang Miao village

Living in the depths of the canyon, are more than 80 families of Miao ethnicity.   

Featuring with grey tile wooden houses on green stone roads, the whole village is comfortable and quiet. The mountains around the village are magnificent, and three streams intersect here like three ribbons. 

The village is located in the center of the scenic spot, and the stone road, which is more than 5,000 meters long, leads to various scenic spots from here. It is also an observation deck where people can enjoy the scenery in all directions.
